Vapofil Ingredients List: 7 Label Lines Checked One by One

Quick answer

The Vapofil label lists seven actives per two capsules: saw palmetto, wild yam, sarsaparilla, nettle leaf and boron chelate at 20 mg each, tongkat ali at 10 mg and horny goat weed at 8 mg. That adds up to 118 mg. Gelatin, cellulose and magnesium stearate make up the capsule. Read each line below.

At a glance

Key facts

  • Serving size: 2 capsules. Servings per bottle: 30. Total listed actives: 118 mg per serving, about 59 mg per capsule.
  • Five actives weigh 20 mg each, tongkat ali weighs 10 mg and horny goat weed weighs 8 mg.
  • Boron chelate is 5% boron, so 20 mg holds about 1 mg of boron (our math from the label).
  • The rest of each capsule is cellulose, gelatin and magnesium stearate, so it is not vegetarian.
  • No proprietary blend. The label lists no L-arginine, maca, ginseng, yohimbe or zinc.
  • Daily Value is not established for any of the seven. Label revision mark: REV 10/24.
  • Not FDA approved. Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

The panel

What does the Vapofil supplement facts panel show?

Seven names, seven weights, no secret blend. That is the whole panel.

The panel says 2 capsules per serving and 30 servings per container. Each active line then gives an amount in milligrams, followed by a dagger that means Daily Value not established. Because every weight is printed, you can check the product against the research yourself.

Line 1

What is the saw palmetto berry extract for?

Saw palmetto is the first line, at 20 mg. It is best known from prostate research. Trials used 320 mg a day, and the 2023 Cochrane review of 27 studies found little to no benefit for urinary symptoms (Cochrane review, Saw palmetto). Vapofil holds one sixteenth of that trial amount.

Watch for mild stomach upset, and for a possible bruising or bleeding risk with warfarin and similar blood thinners (MSKCC, Saw palmetto). Our saw palmetto article has the full story.

Line 2

What are wild yam and sarsaparilla doing on the label?

Both are root extracts at 20 mg. Wild yam holds diosgenin, which labs use as a raw material for hormones. The body cannot turn it into hormones, so a hormone claim for wild yam is not supported (MSKCC, Wild yam). Animal studies of this species also reported kidney injury.

Sarsaparilla has a traditional use of 2 to 4 grams, three times a day, and no controlled human trials support its proposed uses (EBSCO, Sarsaparilla). Some sarsaparilla products held unsafe lead levels. That is a reason to ask a seller for a lab report, not a sign about this bottle.

Line 3

Is the nettle in Vapofil leaf or root?

The label says nettle leaf extract, 20 mg. The sales page FAQ calls it root. When they differ, the label wins. It matters because prostate research used nettle root at 300 to 600 mg a day, and the leaf has no men's health trials (LiverTox, Stinging nettle).

Nettle may add to diuretics and blood pressure drugs, and one man had low blood sugar on a nettle remedy (MSKCC, Nettle). If you take such medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist first.

Line 4

How much real boron is in the boron chelate line?

The line reads Boron Amino Acid Chelate 5%, 20 mg. Only 5% of that weight is boron. Do the sum: 5% of 20 mg is 1 mg. Food already gives most adults roughly 0.87 to 1.35 mg a day, and the adult upper limit is 20 mg (NIH ODS, Boron).

The one small study people cite gave 8 men 10 mg of boron for a week (Boron study, 8 men). Vapofil holds about a tenth of that. See the boron profile and the boron and testosterone article.

Line 5

What does 100:1 mean on the tongkat ali line?

The label reads 10 mg from a 100:1 extract, "equivalent to approximately 1000mg of dry Tongkat Ali powder". That second number describes the raw root used to make the extract. It is not what you swallow. You swallow 10 mg. Trials gave 100 to 600 mg of extract (Leisegang 2022, Tongkat ali meta-analysis), so compare extract with extract.

Tongkat ali is a possible rare cause of liver injury, and long-term safety is unclear (LiverTox, Tongkat ali). People with liver disease should ask a doctor first. Our extract ratios article explains the math.

Line 6

What is the horny goat weed line, and why is it missing from one graphic?

Horny goat weed is 8 mg from a 10:1 extract, equivalent to about 80 mg of dry herb. The brand's "Inside Vapofil" graphic shows only six ingredients and leaves it out. We do not know why. The label is the legal record, so we follow the label.

The evidence is mostly lab and animal work, and a 49-man trial of a blend found no difference from control (LiverTox, Horny goat weed). MSK reports fast or irregular heartbeat and advises against it with heart disease (MSKCC, Epimedium).

Line 7

What fills the rest of each capsule?

The rest of each capsule is microcrystalline cellulose, gelatin and magnesium stearate. The label gives no weights for them. Gelatin comes from animals, so the capsule is not vegetarian or vegan, whatever a brand roundel says. If you avoid animal products, skip it.

The brand's Inside Vapofil graphic shows six ingredient tiles. The label lists seven actives, so follow the label.

Also note what is not on the list: no L-arginine, maca, ginseng, yohimbe or zinc. When you compare products, compare printed amounts, not the length of the list.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What ingredients are in Vapofil?

Saw palmetto, wild yam, sarsaparilla, nettle leaf and boron amino acid chelate at 20 mg each, tongkat ali at 10 mg and horny goat weed at 8 mg, per two capsules. The shell and fillers are microcrystalline cellulose, gelatin and magnesium stearate.

Is there a Vapofil ingredients list with amounts?

Yes. The label prints an amount for every active: 20 mg, 20 mg, 20 mg, 20 mg, 20 mg, 10 mg and 8 mg. Together they total 118 mg per serving of two capsules, about 59 mg per capsule. There is no proprietary blend.

Does Vapofil contain heavy metals?

No metals test for Vapofil has been published, so nobody outside the company can say. Research found mercury in some tongkat ali products and lead in some sarsaparilla products. Ask the seller in writing for a certificate of analysis that names a lab.

Is the Vapofil capsule vegetarian?

No. The label lists gelatin among the other ingredients, and gelatin comes from animals. A brand roundel says vegetarian, but the label wins. People who avoid animal products should skip this capsule.

Does Vapofil list L-arginine, maca or ginseng?

No. The label lists no L-arginine, maca, ginseng, yohimbe or zinc. Its seven actives are saw palmetto, wild yam, sarsaparilla, nettle leaf, boron chelate, tongkat ali and horny goat weed.

Why are the Vapofil amounts so small?

The label and the sales page do not explain it. We can only report the numbers: most amounts are between about one sixteenth and one tenth of studied doses. Taking more capsules than the label allows is not a way around that.

Our view

Our view

A printed amount for every line is the best thing about this label. It turns arguments into arithmetic. And the arithmetic is plain: most lines sit far below the doses that research used, and the research itself is thin or mixed.

That does not make the capsule harmful. It makes it a low-dose product that should be judged by its numbers, not by its sales page. Read the whole panel on the Supplement Facts page, check cautions on the side effects page, and show the label to your doctor or pharmacist if you take daily medicines.
